Riley is young uniformed police officer in Los Angeles in A Kiss of Shadows. When Meredith, covered in Branwyn's Tears, is questioned at police station about the death of Alistair Norton, she loses control after she proves Detective Alvera that the Tears are working. When Alvera is torn away from her, Riley is standing next to Meredith and staring. She grabs his hand and the spell spreads to him and he kisses her. Somebody tears him away from her.
